DeckRemodelers.com was honored at the 2016 National Deck Competition Award Ceremony on October 6th, in Baltimore, Maryland. The competition is one of the highlights of the annual Deck Expo and Remodeling conference. This annual event showcases the finest examples of deck design, construction and craftsmanship from around the United States. DeckRemodelers.com accepted several national best awards, a first place for construction in wood, second place for lighting design and a national deck material manufacturer’s choice award. They were also awarded second place for both best project overall and best alternative material design. For DeckRemodelers.com this year is the seventh consecutive winning year on the national level. They have reached this level of achievement and recognition due to imaginative artistry and resource selection, with a focus on function and detail. The deck project nationally recognized for first place in the wood category can be found in Chester NJ. This outdoor living design project is constructed in Ipe, a Brazilian hardwood. The deck is accented with custom powder coated aluminum rails. Details reflect the style of opulent hardwood interior finish carpentry. A rounded staircase descends to a ground level hardscape providing a base for the fire feature, flanked by planters and a retaining wall capped in bluestone. All the components of the complete design work to provide a tranquil retreat for the homeowner. A second place award for the national best illumination category was also received. The lighting design accents a project completed in Berkley Heights, NJ. Deck illumination is planned with both aesthetics and safety in mind. Early sundown is not an obstacle to a pleasurable evening event in the warm glow at this inviting yet personal outdoor nightspot. DeckRemodelers.com was also awarded the manufacturer’s best award. This category judges project that have been submitted by manufacturers directly. Wolf a decking manufacturer submitted the winning project. The design by DeckRemodelers.com was completed using Wolf decking and was selected as national best. This same project also placed in two additional categories, national second place for both best project overall as well as best alternative material design. This project has ample space for dining accessible from the home’s interior and features a sunken round seating area with a central fire feature. A grand staircase provides the decent to the ground level hardscape, a covered area shelters the hot tub and provides a shady spot for a nap in an oversized hammock. DeckRemodelers.com attends the conference to remain knowledgeable in all the cutting-edge product offerings and techniques. They chose to compete in support of their many local designs with the opportunity to compare their work with the best efforts of others around the Nation. The contest entries were judged anonymously for best design, craftsmanship and overall appeal. The annual competition is sponsored by N.A.D.R.A. the North American Deck and Railing Association. Winners were selected in categories from both natural hardwoods as well as maintenance free synthetic materials. The competition was open to deck projects across the U.S., Canada and even Australia.
